Cynthia Brix is an ordained interfaith minister and served as campus minister at the University of Colorado, Boulder for United Ministries of Higher Education. She holds an M.Div. in divinity and M.A. in wellness management and gerontology. Cynthia co-chaired with the Dean of Ball State University the Race Relations Committee for the City of Muncie, Indiana.
She convened the Women’s Spiritual Mastery conference in Italy in 2009, and produced the documentary video entitled, "Cultivating Women’s Spiritual Mastery". Cynthia co-authored books are "Divine Duality: The Power of Reconciliation Between Women and Men" (2007) and "Women Healing Women: A Model of Hope for Oppressed Women Everywhere" (2009).

Prior to joining Promundo, Giovanna worked at the United Nations Foundation as Associate Director of the Women and Population Programme. She also worked on issues of diversity, race, and ethnicity at the London School of Economics, and researched harmful traditional practices among minority communities in several European countries at the University of Oxford, where she attained her DPhil in Political Science.
Her previous degrees include a Master’s degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies with a focus on Public Health, and a BA from the University of Bologna.

Jessica Mertz is Executive Director of Clery Center, a national nonprofit organization
founded in 1987 that empowers colleges and universities to create safer campuses. Mertz
joined Clery Center in May 2019 after 10-years at the University of Pennsylvania, where she
served as the founding director of Penn Violence Prevention. At UPenn Mertz oversaw the
development of system wide educational initiatives and polices that addressed sexual
harassment, sexual violence, relationship violence, and stalking. Mertz also worked as the
associate director of the University of Pennsylvania’s Women’s Center, where she
spearheaded programs that addressed gender equity and interpersonal violence.
Prior to joining Penn, Mertz worked as a community-based educator, a domestic violence
counselor, and as a victim advocate. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Kristin
Mitchell Foundation, was a member of Philadelphia’s Sexual Assault Advisory Council, and

specializes in sex discrimination, human rights law, and international humanitarian law.
Her latest co-authored article, "#MeToo and Theories of Justice," as well as a solo authored piece, "#MeToo and Procedural Justice" were just published. "#MeToo and Law Talk" is forthcoming this year in the University of Chicago Legal Forum. Her articles on the domestic implementation of the Convention of Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against
Women, passive discrimination, Wal-Mart v. Dukes, sex selection in China have appeared in the Michigan Journal of International Law, Chicago Law Review, the Wake Forest Law Review, and the
Chicago Legal Forum.
Before coming to Illinois, Professor Wexler taught at the Florida State University College of Law. Prior to teaching at Florida State,
she spent two years at the University of Chicago Law School as a Bigelow Fellow and Lecturer on Law.
